Actually I’d swear it is said that they’re in high school.
Also they have boobs, that’s enough to remove the fact it’s loli.
Of course, you can’t remove the fact that half of the peoples in AS don’t have a single clue about loli since they call Rena ‘loli killer’ because it sounds cool.
A character that’s young looking isn’t necessary loli else every character in all animes would be loli.

r0r: Yes, you’ve your own definition of, “loli” in place. Unfortunately, I’m still unable to understand even if it is infuriating. Just by watching the show you can’t get a sense of any character’s height unless it is stated specifically in the show itself, and not in some website that is there to thwart the ploys of the righteous authority. I can’t concede to the point the girls are “chibi” since all the other characters aren’t “chibi” as well. You can always argue otherwise, that the focus aren’t on any other characters!

2nd point - They _are_ “young looking”!

3rd point - I’m reluctant to touch the subject, but I’ll just end it with the quote, “baby fat!” If I conceded to your “chibi” argument, then it makes even more sense.

More research needs to be done on the subject before a general consensus can be reached on the definition of “loli!”

Oh r0r, please go easy on me! The banter is all in good fun, I swear. Anyway, I’ve my fill for this subject and will call it quits here. ^^

That’s because you don’t seem to figure out the difference between chibi and loli.
I dunno about the 2 comments after me, IMO they don’t really make sense.
But it’s true that you have loli issues when you start calling every new show a loli show… Well I have loli issues too actually: especially when peoples who don’t have a single idea about what loli is start to call every single show loli and call characters like Rena from Higurashi a ‘killer loli’, etc.
There are 3 mains importants things about loli:
1) usually short in height
2) young looking
3) flat chest

bah, you guys are all idiots! Manabi Straight is CLEARLY a GAR show! i mean, you all need glasses if you cant see that. see manabi? shes like SUPER GAR man, with her GAR seitokaichou style and GAR hover scooter and GAR-ly toned hair. Then there’s Momoha, who’s nicknamed Momo which in itself is just so GAR! and look at her super GAR camera as well! the pictures they take are even GAR-er. And lets not forget about Mei, who is a definite tsunGAR. and the voice aya uses for her is GAR-er than any of the GAR male voices out there too. and the hell, Mika is like GAR-est of them all, with her over 9000 GAR ribbon! oh but then again, Mutsuki is like mega MOE so I dunno…

The reason I believe they aren’t loli’s is because it’s a GIRL SHOW. There’s like no fanservice and its centered around females making friends and growing together. You conclude that they’re loli’s because that’s what your mind sees. I see normal girls going about their daily life and having fun. There’s like no sexual connotations anywhere, but if you do happen see them, then you prob have loli probs.

What you don’t seem to understand is that the characters are chibified which is the reason why they look so small in size.
Also, I’d swear I saw a moment where the school was mentioned as ’senior high school’ and not ‘grade school’ or in the worst extend ‘middle school’.
This is a moe show, not a loli show, it should be obvious right now or are you going to call a show involving dwarves a loli show just because the girls are short?:P

Two observation to insist on the point that they are indeed lolis:

Visual representation: There is simply no way to overlook the fact how each of these characters are designed! I agree, that the website is presenting us with conflicting information. My guess is that ufotable is simply covering their track for some of those fanservice in the show, so there won’t be any finger pointing by any of the local authorities. If the authority cries about involvement of underaged girls in distatsteful content, then Ufotable will point to their website and ask, “have you ever heard of lolis that are 5 feet tall? No? Shut up!”

It’s a bleak future: As we can tell from the story, the setting is in the future. May be lolis will grow bigger in size in the future and they will still be identified with the honorary title, “lolis”. Yes, the future does seem bleak. Pedobear won’t be able to go near them because these lolis can defend themselves with their grotesque size.

Jokes aside, the point is to have fun! We are having fun watching this show, aren’t we?

No, actually if you look at the character profiles on the website it clearly shows that the girls are probably not 10-12, they’re all over 150cm tall and have a well developped bust.
