“You know, today, I am going to talk about….”
“It is well known in anime circles that…”
“Today, I bought some of the most …”
And then you get stuck, not knowing how to continue. No matter how much you try to squeeze an anime entry out of your wordpress template or whatever you use to blog. No anime episodes are out, you have not written in a week. Your hand itches to write yet nothing comes out. Despair resumes in the dark life of an anime blogger that cannot conjure the magic to write up an entry.
What do you do to find that creativity?
This is in fact an entry I always wanted to write, considering how crazy I can get when I write. However, there are periods when people do get stuck with writing, not knowing what to do. Some called this situation burnout, lack of creativity or perhaps the inability to fill T.H.A.T space with any form of writing. However, no fear, use the Impz’s quick fix ways to fill T.H.A.T space. Yes, as you can tell, this is in fact a living example of how I attempt to fill this space of sorts.
No, it’s not an attempt to make a joke. Well, perhaps. I am sure Kotono of Saint October will forgive me.
1. Find it in this blog. Or that blog?

Man, it’s so hard to find nice entries on the net…Tired
Go read other people’s blogs. I generally use that for my first method of trying to squeeze something out from my head when I need to fill this space. For example, the inspiration to write this entry came from Mike in AnimeOtaku and a 9rules blog. Yes, it has absolutely no relationship to this entry whatsoever. However, who ever said that creativity is a linear form. In fact, it will always be the best when you go read something that you never really read too much. You will realize and absorb a bit of the imagination and idea from other bloggers. Well, do not ip block your anime blogs now, just because I revealed this.
At least that means your blog has tons of creativity for me to steal.
Right? Don’t ban me for stealing ideas sometimes?
2. Relax and chill out

Sleep is the best form of relaxation. Trust me on that.
Yes, this is the word. Most bloggers tend to over stress themselves when they cannot conjure an entry and for those who enjoy writing, you are usually not stressed when you write an entry. When you find that you are having a lot of pain trying to write it, it really means that you are getting overly stressed in trying to do it. Take a break, do something relaxing that is good. Reading a book helps. Just for your information, reading doujinshi of the erotic nature usually stimulates you too much for your own good. I advice against assuming such a genre of books as a relaxing activity. People generally write best when they are relaxed and in a good frame of mind. However, it might be an assumption but I highly doubt any anime blogger considers blogging to be work, no?
So you do not believe me and continue to write even though you are totally panicky. Trust me, whatever comes out looks like a constipated version and rundown combination version of Soul Link and Crescent love. Trust me, it is not pretty when something like that appears to the net. Well, in a rather warped way, you can be infamous for writing the best piece of junk.
Junk can be great, just ask Suigintou. She’s hot.
Just not writing junk (no pun intended).
3. Listen to anime music and correlate

Music is the mother of creativity. I C H I G O GO, ichigo girls go!
Anime music tends to be generally more evoking in terms of emotions as good anime songs often bring you to a trance of relaxation. As you listen to anime music, you are also brought into the mood of anime as well, as you start to relate anime music with posts that you will like to write. For example, listening to Aria makes me feel relaxed, then I realize it is feel-good. Then i will write an article about anime that makes you feel good and what are the important steps to creating that image in a viewer.
See? Co-relation always helps to write something. Anything can appear from co-relation but music tends to invoke it without forcing it down your throat since it is such a passive activity, just like radio. Podcasts, well, I don’t dig that too much.
4. Watch anime

Watch the right anime for inspiration. Yep.
Anime is god, if not, why are we watching it in the first place. Well, other than the fact that I do not honestly regard Haruhi Suzumiya to be the true creator of our living world, I believe that anime takes up a good portion of our life, constructing us and building us up while we speak. Honestly, which medium of art can create endless possibilities that cannot be re-conjured by real actors and actresses. This is amazing stuff and it is sad that anime is regarded as child’s play, because it is not. I always hate it when people tell me to grow up and watch something different. Does watching drama make you more of an adult then? That is utter rubbish.
Back after happily digressing over a topic that can cover a whole post on its own, I will like to say that anime as a form of art has boundless creativity. Watching it often moves people, as long as you are watching the right show and not some series that can evoke totally nothing and bores you to sleep. For that, I do recommend Zettai Shounen because it is perhaps a series that can lull you to sleep with 2 episodes. That will seriously hurt you as an anime blogger, especially your insanity levels since it did cause me to pull my hair from the sheer boredom.
5. Talk to fellow bloggers

Find a mind twin to talk to. Good if she is also a meido loli. Woot.
Talking is the starting of connection. Without communication, nothing can occur. If I cannot communicate to the readers out there properly, no one will read the blog. Hence, it is very useful to start talking to your fellow anime bloggers. Since they are more attuned to writing than most normal non-blogger people are in the genre of writing, they will often slip out with words of wisdom that can be the start of a magical post that can be conjured. In fact, this blog entry came from one of the IRC channel chats when Lupus said that he had no idea what to write and in my mind, I started thinking.
“What if I write such an entry out? That will be great!”
And hence it appears as such an article.
You will never know what to write until you interact. That is why a community, one that is greatly attuned to anime, can give you the greatest answers if you only ask. It is that simple and yet this is one way that most people never think of. Surprising, isn’t it?

“WE ARE FUCKING NOT DOTQ. THIS TIME SERIOUSLY.” » Blog Archive » This is a response to: Impz’s advice about inspiration added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 6:33 pmI only do the second and the fifth, and sometimes the fourth… I used to have more idea when I read other people’s blogs, so I guess that’s the best way of finding inspirations for me.
Great post by the way. I READ IT!
Lupus added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 8:14 amOr you can churn out lists like this entry
“My list of favorite impz”
TedFox added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 8:41 amI really gotta have a go at the AB IRC. The stories that stem from there are insane.

But anyway~ I really like your posts about blogging, Jan. Since I’m new and stuff, I really find them helpful *O*
Aezie added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 9:09 amI do none of the above! ![]()
IRC ftw
Although I really should stop being lazy with idling all the time lol
prince leon added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 9:25 am@darkshaunz & Danny: Yes, sire.
@Lupus: after like 1001 times of me telling you to read it, that is like….ermm, ya.
@Tedfox: What in the world, man? My list of favorite Impz @_@? What in the world does that mean.
@Whispered.hope: A bit of spoiler but I am doing a feature article soon on new anime blogs in ab.net and you are in my feature, ahaha~ And yes, u got to come to the AB IRC. It’s active like now
@Alafista: Ehhhhhhhh. i thought i have that entry somewhere. I will hunt it out next time
@Aezie: Glad to know that of course ^+^…And i will not let you go to anywhere else, RAWR! @_@
(i sound like a disturbing kidnapper)
Impz added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 9:25 amOh dear, the horribleness of my blog were surface xD But I can’t wait to see the others! -searches around for IRC tutorials-
Whispered.Hope added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 1:03 pmWow, another great post! First, an article on attracting readers to your blog, now this one on getting over writer’s block. I nominate Impz for Motivational Speaker for Anime blogs award. Too bad I fail at implementing what I’ve read.
Listening to anime music? Already got that down. Music from Kanon and Ghost in the Shell keep playing over and over in my head. As for reading, Pumpkin Scissors made me drag out some history books to reread. I’ve some weird theory that I’m trying to verify.
badger11 added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 1:09 pmAnd I really do need to get into AB’s IRC. *sigh*
badger11 added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 1:11 pmwait, actually, guys who have never been to ab.net irc, don’t. = =;; well, at least not for the purpose of getting inspiration to write more and better. I shall summarize what goes on in our channel: loli. that’s right, your mind would get seasoned, i mean poisoned and it WILL show on your posts *cough green hair loli poster* =P
but hey, if you feel like chilling and having a good time, do join us =D (just forget about ever getting anything done with that head of yours which will be loli filled) ^^||
mthchan added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 1:30 pmHey mthchan, noway! I NEVER talk about lolis, ever. Mature women ftw.
I’d say #5 is the most important one, just because anime bloggers are not afraid to voice opinions, unlike the average blog reader.
retsgip added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 2:40 pmYour “self-help written by Impz!” type entries are for the win!!! DESU.
The Zee added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 4:00 pmJust joined the channel ![]()
I’m on rizon the whole time anyway so one more server window, who gives! ^^
KYAAH~! Yea, AB IRC churns out some really… interesting stories.
Yesterday it was the team rocket sequence platypus voltron.
rdrake added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 6:17 pmfrom nothing you conjured up a whole lot of stuff out. nice. =D
sentinel011 added these pithy words on Jan 12 07 at 9:11 pmThe second and third method works best for me, however, it seems that I had somehow went overboard: I sleep the moment I reach home from school everyday and I spoilt my mp3 player just recently… lol. =(
I wanted to do 4, but I seriously do not have the time. I need more 2. =\
kristalyamaki added these pithy words on Jan 13 07 at 4:43 am@badger11: Ehh, i just write whatever comes to my mind. This is perhaps my service back to Maestro and the ab.net community for helping me out so often all the time. This is my little help for everyone who needs it.
@mthchan: Cough! There is no form of creativity that is clear. Some people find it in the toilet, some find it at the strangest times. However, by talking about anime, it makes it easier. So come in, see what you can trigger off by communication.
@Retsgip: Can’t agree more. We are generally pretty vocal. I am more on the tame side though. Did you ever see me flaming anything?
@The Zee: Thanks for the praise, I am glad you enjoyed it.
@neko & Rdrake: Good, i see you guys often ^+^
@Sentinel: Just my style, you should know from msn how my warped mind works. Ahaha~
@Kristalyamaki: LOL. who doesn’t. Sleeping too much is no longer relaxation though. Tsk tsk tsk.
