Shuurei is in great danger. Will she be able to survive the physical charms of Sakujun or will she succumb to his forceful nature?
This episode deals with Shuurei’s attempt to find out about the location of Kokujun and Eiki, as well as resisting the attempts of Sakujun and the rest of the Sa clan from impending her attempt to be governor of Sa province. This episode, to me, is pretty straightforward, yet makes a very strong impression with character development of Shuurei. 女人也说一

I watch this episodes at you tube lately but I couldn’t understand story of it,its unsub and its Japanese dialogged poor me!thanks again I’m looking forward for the next one!
na2niet added these pithy words on Jan 10 07 at 12:28 amAh, hints! Oh, hints! Very good hints! Or not…^^
ThirteenSugars added these pithy words on Jan 10 07 at 2:46 am@Na2niet: glad to know that it’s helping and some series are totally impossible to decipher without subs. For example, Ghost hunt and saiunkoku monogatari are two series that are impossible to do it.
@Thirteensugars: The seiran fangirl in you has risen? Well, I do not know but Seiran’s uncomfortable behavior whenever Sakujun is mentioned disturbs me. That is more than brotherly protective behavior. Yes, I am implying way too much.
Impz added these pithy words on Jan 10 07 at 7:52 pmI too really loved this episode.
This show does a great job of balancing comedy and drama. And as I’ve said before its great to see such a strong female heroine like Shuurei.
I’m sure a lot of people wrote this series off early on, thinking of it simply as another silly harem show, when Saiunokoku is way deeper than that.
Shuurei is defintely no Miaka and for that I am glad.
D.J added these pithy words on Jan 10 07 at 8:54 pm@DJ: The thing is that Saiunkoku Monogatari is more in the aspect of Junni Kokki, but in a well less serious form. However, both are more on the governmental aspect (aka macro level) compared to FY which is quite a mess after a good opening premise.
Well, it’s definitely no harem show, since other than Ryuuki, there is like 0 romantic vibes, except for the hints that the fans of Saimono started to think inside their heads and having wild ideas over the pairings do.
Miaka….no. Don’t even go there.
Impz added these pithy words on Jan 10 07 at 9:11 pmOh no, I really am seeing Ryuuki in Sakujun now.
But I love Ryuuki, does this mean I’m liking Sakujun now? Haha I think I loved this episode more now that I read your summary. ^_^ I never thought Chuushou would go so far as to burn a city just to tie his grandchild to the Kou clan. Oh wait, this is Sa Clan we’re talking about.
I’m having bad vibes around Kokujun. It’s like he’s about to go Kamikaze anytime soon. And good thing they showed Seiran atleast once in this episode. I thought I won’t be able to see some Seiran for two weeks straight lol
Really? Well, I personally cannot see how Ryuuki is like Sakujun. Yes, they both have an undying devotion to Shuurei but the intention of the two cannot be varsely different by any means. Ryuuki is truely devoted to Shuurei and doing things that will benefit her (I mean, he must have hurt badly to send Shuurei to Sa province, but he wanted the best for her and the country). However, Sakujun just takes her for a ride for his own benefit.
How can such two different people be regarded as similiar at all? No appearance for Ryuuki this week though, will be rather disappointing but i guess it made no sense for him to appear at all, considering the crux of the issue being Shuurei and the marriage/assigning of governor ceremony.
Kokujun really worries me. The one cut scene in this episode had him in this loony croony state where he is mumbling all about killing the whole clan and the likes.
Morbid.
impz added these pithy words on Jan 10 07 at 10:56 pmRyuuki has only been missing for an episode two and I already miss him. Is that wrong?
Anyway… Kokujun looks scarily like a girl there. It’s disturbing. Perhaps even more disturbing is that I think he looks more sexy than Shuurei. *shudder*
Ori added these pithy words on Jan 11 07 at 1:35 amThe Seiran-fangirl in me is never down. ^^ But you’re right. Seiran’s uncomfortable, his obsessive and compulsive, behavior towards Shuurei and your implication of it is firing it up more.
And yes, I agree with your points about the anime more focused in government and politics alike Juuni Kouki, and Ryuuki and Sakujun being very different though the intensities of their feelings for Shuurei may equal, However, my opinion of FY differs from your own as I really think FY is a good anime. It just really got messed up when the Eikoden OVA came out. FY also gave a satisfying ending unlike the vide Saimon is giving its audience.
Also, I think Kokujun’s loonyness is a pretty good twist in the story. After all, an anime like Saiunkoku will only become boring if all the characters are always sane, skilled or good looking, Take Sugimoto and her boyfriend (or something, I forgot his name) for instance. They added more taste to Juuni Kouki. At least I think they did.
I’m also in agreement of Ori’s comment…Actually, most characters in this anime are a lot sexier than Shuurei is though these sexy characters do find her cute and adorable. I guess that’s another advantage Miaka has. A fact proven by the number of times her cleavage was shown in the anime.
ThirteenSugars added these pithy words on Jan 11 07 at 3:45 amWoops! Kokuki! Juuni Kokuki!
ThirteenSugars added these pithy words on Jan 11 07 at 3:59 amOh, the reason I said Sakujun reminds me of Ryuuki isn’t because of their real intentions, but just because of how they act. I mean, they both have this childish factor in them, both are nobilities, and are overly fond of Shuurei (Qualities that I love in Ryuuki). They both are so straightforward, and both make a move on her. The only difference is Shuurei actually ‘blushes’ on Sakujun’s advances, and Ryuuki gets nada. XD But who knows? Maybe Sakujun’s treatment of Shuurei is his way to express his own love. Has this guy ever fallen in love before? lol
Don’t get me wrong though, If Seiran couldn’t, I still think Ryuuki’ll get Shuurei. ^.^ Sakujun poses no threat at all.
Juuni Kokki. Isn’t it supposed to have a second season?:( There were so many questions left unanswered even when I watched the whole series, and the romance factor is so subtle compare to Saiunkoku.
And that’s saying something.
@Ori: Glad that I am not the only person who is thinking that way. I did not write it up for fear of being….thought of a crazy and insane person. You spoke my mind. Thanks. *sniggers*
@13sugars: Cannot agree more with the part about loonyness. The best type of character in my humble opinion are normal, sane character that turned totally insane. Talking about a totally different genre, Kaede from Shuffle! made Shuffle from a normal harem show to a ZOMG rockish show from her shift as a normal childhood friend to a total psychotic b****. I generally like such characters because they will do anything. That is fricking fun.
As for the FY arguments, I do not want to press on before I sound like some angry child. Ahaha~
@Ricaryx: Well, I personally do not think that Sakujun had that childish factor at all. It is more of an act rather than natural (yes, you can tell i disdain him a lot) and he was using it as a form of manipulation rather than being really innocent. I highly doubt that Sakujun has fell in love before. How can anyone in that kind of mindset fall in love?
Perhaps, Shuurei is the first person he has taken interest for. Still, it is more of a play thing and yes, the romance factor is way too subtle in 12 kingdoms. Still, we fans like to think of anything under the sun for my favorite pairings, no?
Yep. SEIRAN X SHUUREI FOREVER!
Impz added these pithy words on Jan 11 07 at 9:59 amHi! Although I really really like Saiunkoku very much, I find that the last few episodes were really boring and draggy. I miss Ryuuki!!!!
There are so many dialogues … and not much action. I miss Ryuuki and Shuurei together!!! Did I mention I miss Ryuuki? And Shuuei, Kouyou, and Shuuei’s little brother!! Those pple are more interesting and funny. The Sa clan is boring. They’re not manically evil or dangerously evil or evilly crazy. Only all talk.
Old man Sa talk so much but like never do anything. He only locked up his poor grandson, why never kill him? Of course I know kill him then no story, but don’t kill him seems so … mild (if he’s supposed to be one big evil boss). And pretty boy Sa also not much of a threat. He doesn’t feel dangerous or evil, just boring and trying to be erm … pretty? DId you notice his purple lipstick? Urrgh. I mean … his actions are sooo boring. If he is supposed to be manipulative or cunning or extremely intelligent or something, it doesn’t show! He doesn’t even act stupid or pretend to be anything. He just seem so one-dimensional. Does he have an agenda of his own or is he just his grandfather’s puppet or is he just super duper bored? And Shuurei’s interaction with him is soo boring and predictable. She just blushes and pushes him away. There’s absolutely no chemistry between them! Pretty boy also doesn’t seem to be trying very hard or manipulating very hard. All the scenes doesn’t even feel like it’s leading up to something. It just feels flat. It doesn’t feel exciting or engaging or whatsoever.
Sakujun isn’t like Ryuuki at all. His character isn’t exactly very well developed. Maybe we’ll find that he’s the mastermind of it all at the end, or maybe we’ll find that he’s just a pathetic pawn after all, but in the meantime, he just isn’t charming or interesting or funny or whatsoever. Honestly speaking, I don’t care if he’s innocent or manipulative. He’s just so boring.
I want Ryuuki!! And his harem. At least they’re funny.
lys added these pithy words on Jan 11 07 at 10:57 am@lys: That old man did not kill the son because it was for family reasons to keep the seed alive plus the fact that Kokujun was still somewhat…an important pawn to play in the family, considering his standing with Eiki. Hence, by keeping him in shackles, he always has a last resort to play no matter what. That said, isn’t keeping someone just alive a greater torture than killing the poor man?
and yes, lys, welcome to the “i hate sakujun club”. I will be your first member.
ha!
Impz added these pithy words on Jan 11 07 at 11:04 amYour work is admirable on these eps. Utube raws don’t mean shite without knowing what’s going on.
*respect*
Ningnomaningnong added these pithy words on Jan 16 07 at 10:19 pmHmmm hints are good… I am really intrigued by Shuurei reactions to her assorted “harem”. I go primarily for a royal pairing, Ryuuki or Seiran. Consider me next in line for the “I hate Sakujan club” I just find it an annoying and somewhat largely forgettable character. Still water may run deep but occasionaly they are just a sewage treatment plant if you get my drift.
