As some of you may have noticed, the poll topic has changed. It doesn’t have to do with anime (poll will be changed probably in a week or so), but I’m interested in what you all feel about the return of the console wars. I know, I know. This topic has already been kicked about everywhere now that the PS3 and Wii have hit the market just week ago. I still felt the need to write about this entire issue.
Well, here we go… the three contestants that have entered the console gaming fray. Mind you, I’m not going to go on blabbing and comparing specs or such amongst the three consoles. Those details can be found almost anywhere (besides, what would it prove? The entire topic is rather moot). Besides, I’m pondering on purchasing one of these systems this upcoming summer and am interested in various opinions, lol.
My main problem is choosing between the XBox360 and PS3. I’ve pretty much decided that I’m going to get a Wii… which all of you should do as well. : P Well… maybe not… that’s right! Don’t get it! That way I won’t have to constantly call and fight others for one at the stores.
Personally, I’ve only heard negative things about the XBox360. I’ve played on one a few times and it’s been pretty fun. . but there aren’t very many games that have caught my eye. I play Halo only once in a while (not an enormous fan of fps games). Likewise, I’ve heard some decent things about the Gears of War. Other than those two, the only other games I’ve really played were sports-related games.
I’ve only played the PS3 at a local Best Buy since all my friends ended up selling their’s (or their spot… a friend of mine sold his spot in line for $500 USD). Like the XBox360, I’ve also heard mixed feelings about this system. Supposedly many people have had problems with the disk-loading mechanism. On top of that, I believe I’ve also heard about overheating issues. Hopefully Sony will fix these issues in future versions of the PS3.
Regardless of this though, I’m still thinking of this system (regardless of it’s absurd price) simply because of how the PS2 did. The PS2 is probably one of if not my favorite system of all time. I have about 90 games for it and it has such variety that it has kept me hooked onto it for the past what… 4-5-6 whatever years? lol.
Either way, I personally haven’t looked into the projected games much so I really have no idea what companies have signed onto the PS3 wagon and what games I will be able to expect. Anyone have any ideas, haha? I’m a huge fan of RPG games. This is probably why I’m still considering the PS3… simply because I’m hoping that the types of games that were found on the PS2 will continue to appear on the PS3.
Finally, I feel that the Wii is definitely a fun machine to own. When I first heard of the controller concept, I had large doubts about whether everything will come together as well as Nintendo was saying it would. I must say… I had tons of fun playing the Wii Sports release with my friends. I watched a friend play Monkeyball and Zelda:TP and I’m very impressed. I definitely plan on getting myself one of these (especially since they’re only $250).
Either way… looks like my wallet is going to take a large blog to the gut. ::sigh:: Maybe I should just wait another year or two, lol.

Will be getting a Wii next year. Not planning a PS3 and/or 360. Budget reasons
dude… you’re making me drool… I’ve got the SNES, Gamecube and well, by teh looks of things, I will be getting the Wii. Long live Nintendo des.
At this point all the PS3 has going for it are the games coming out on it like MGS4 and FFXIII. And that’s probably why I’m still holding out for it…
Woooooooooow that’s huge. Is that your collection? Or is it like what it says?
For me, I’m only planning on buying a Wii. A PS3 might come in 2 or 3 years time when it’s cheaper and the selection of game becomes huge. I’m tempted to get the 360 now, but there’s really no killer software that I want to play.
If tri-ACE starts making RPGs for the PS3, expect jaw-dropping graphics that surpasses their previous effort everytime.
Aside from that, save your money now since the PS2 still has about a year left with plenty of great games to come.
I loved my PS2 … till now I owned 3 PS2 … and I bought one since it immediately came out … with many bugs .. lol
Right now I would wait till MGS4 …. then I would head down to the nearest bank … rob it .. then buy my PS3
I will never in my life buy an Xbox. I graduated from Nintendo when I bought a PS2 (although the Nintendo’s consoles are always fun!) and will thus hold out for a future release of the PS3 when all the bugs in the first batch are fixed ^^ (And the prices hopefully drops, too…)
Yeah I don’t know why so many people rushed to buy the PS3 on launch. Past history with the PS2 would indicate the initial batches of the PS3 are bound to have hardware problems and firmware issues.
Also all the launch titles for the PS3 are pretty dull and the good ones like MGS4 and FFXIII only come out late next year.
So I’m guessing majority of the people who bought the PS3 on launch were those hoping to make big bucks by reselling them on Ebay or something similar.
But they shot themselves in the foot because everyone is doing that too and now the resale PS3 market is completely flooded with offers until I’ve seen PS3 auctioners having to sell at a loss. How stupid.
More reasons why you shouldn’t get a PS3 too early: http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3155392
Will be getting a PS3, along with either MGS4 or FFXIII, depending on which is released earlier.
In any case, I don’t really support Microsoft because, the games on the XBox360 seem to be really similar, and there aren’t that many RPG games on the console too. Anyways, it seems like the 360 is geared more to the action, sports and fighting genre. All of which I am not really interested in, except maybe action.
The wii? Well, its no more than buying a PS2 or XBox console with motion sensors built into them. But if Nintendo would stop whoring the crap outta their entire franchise of Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, etc… and make games like they used to on the SNES or N64, it might stand a chance. Come on Nintendo! Make more games like Orcarina of Time!
Anyways, yeah, like I said… Getting the PS3. And my dad bought a HDTV so woooo!
I wouldn’t mind if they kept whoring out mario and zelda games as long as they’re good, lol. . such as Twilight Princess is. God, I would get a Wii just for that game alone.
Haha the 360 has poor penetration into the Asian market because their game library is mostly catered to the US players who like their NBA or NFL sports game, and they just throw in some action games like Gears of War. I don’t think I know anyone who owns a 360 and some of my friends don’t even know it’s out already.
The Wii is actually pretty novel with its controller concept but most of the games on it so far seem to be group/party games like that tennis game I saw in the ads.
PS3 has the potential to regain its market share when the big guns aka FFXIII/MGS4 are released and Sony cleans up all the glitches and bugs for the future PS3 versions.
Up there (alkanphel)…hold…
What about Gears of War, Halo 3 and Shadowrun/Huxley (these 2 can compete against PC! Woo!)?
And also, read several reviews on the internet, people favored X360 more than PS3…
Yeah but those reviews on the internet are usually skewed to the West. The PS3 hasn’t really penetrated the East yet so I can’t really talk about that but I feel that the 360 hasn’t really penetrated the East yet, at least not like it has done so in the West.
even if u guyz have the money to buy the PS3 i would recommend not to……..even though i myself am a big fan of RPG but the thing is that the problem with the PS3 is that they havent served their main purpose which is gaming they have focused much on other features and hard drive and stuff rather than on gameplay and graphics ….PS3 is a way more powerful engine than the 360 but if u want gaming then go for the 360 cause i myself have it…..and some ppl have been facing problem with disk loading mechanism because they are buying the Usa version while on the other hand the Asian version of 360 has no problem of such of loading of games!….trust me i have tried the USA and the asian Version
Err what you said makes no sense. It is the game developers who make the games, not Sony or Microsoft. At the moment there aren’t really any games to interest me for the 360 so getting it would be pointless.
