Manga Review - Kujibiki Unbalance 01, First Impression
RENKO HAS NEKOMIMI!!!
Enomoto Chihiro, a normal high schooler, is a freshman at Rikkyoin High School where everything important, from the admission exam to the members of the student council, is decided by drawing lots. Chihiro and Akiyama Tokino, his childhood friend, are selected to be candidates for next year’s student coucil, as President and Vice President respectively. Together with the candidate for the position of Secretary, Kamishakujii Renko, Chihiro and Tokino face the threat of being expelled by the current President if they don’t find and bring the candidate for accountant, who is missing, to the student council room before noon of the first day of school.

Everyone already knows that there is a Kujian anime in the works with all new character designs, but when I saw the Kujian manga available for download I was a little surprised, a little interested but very cautious. The whole premise itself is ridiculous, for one, and I was worried whether Kio Shimoku, who brought us Kujian’s fabulous parent Genshiken, would be behind the project. It was a little bit of a relief to see Kio-sensei’s name next to the kanji saying ‘creation’ - I don’t know if this means he’s writing the story of the manga or if it’s simply recognising the fact that he’s Kujian’s original creator, I don’t know a lick of Japanese. Either way, with the Kio name attached, I have confidence that Kujian will be, if not steller, at least a fun and interesting read.
So how did the first chapter turn out? It’s hard to make an opinion based on a single chapter of manga, but Kujian is looking to be promising. It’s not laugh-out-loud funny, but it garnered a chuckle here or there. The story is, so far, non-existent, but if you make judgement on a story based on one chapter of manga you’re a moron. The characters are cute. Very, very cute.
As I said before, Kio-sensei is not responsible for the drawing of this manga. Instead, someone called Koume Keito holds the pen that will be bringing us Kujian every month. The backgrounds are nothing outstanding, and some frames, particularly those with the Yamada-bot, are messy.
The characters are of the very conventional big-eyes-small-mouth manga style, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Here it’s executed superbly, and honestly, I prefer the new character designs. It’s not like the original Kujian designs were bad, per se, but fuck the thighs. I like my thighs natural and wholesome like these here. I also like the non-retarded Tokino and nekomimi Renko more than their original counterparts.
Finally:
Cute loli ftw.

Koume Keito is originally an eromanga-ka (he still is), and a good one at that. According to Heisei Democracy, his new eromanga has just been released. So we can rest assured that the girls will be cute, and fanservices, if there is any, are going to be executed really well.
That thing in the pics is supposed to be cute? 0_0 Not my taste…
Cardcaptor: Oooh an ero mangaka. I’ve always liked the prospect of official hentai doujin, and it looks like it might happen with Kujian!
Who am I kidding, won’t happen. I would be really happy if Koume does draw some semi-official Kujian hentai though.
kacpy: You fail. Come back when you’ve ascended the mighty steps of Mt. Lolimpus and attained the golden bough of a true lolicon.
-_-
The cover looks cute.
The drawing looks cute.
Kacpy, you do have to climb up to the loli world.
Btw, lupus, i just have that strange feeling that the mountain’s name implied me. I wonder why?
Impzie: Haha no that’s just a coincidence that your name ended up in there. It’s meant to be a pun on Mt. Olympus, where the Greek/Roman gods resided.
impzie, it’s just that you are in the way to be a … way never mind you probably kill me in IRC later :3
Anyway the manga doesn’t look that appealing to me.., even if the characters are very very cute I always demand a good story :3 DEMAND!, *puts a straitjacket on impz*
it looks great
Cute loli ftw~ Yes. <3
