Wow, it has been ages since I last reviewed this anime. It is not that the anime is boring. However, it is the sheer fact that the anime is way too deep for me to review. However, since no one has been reviewing this show for ages, I feel that there is a need for me to at least give a brief outline of what is happening with this show up to episode 25.

This will be part 1 of the review where I will cover episode 20-22. Next week will be from 23-25 so I will catch up with the current episode of saiunkoku monogatari. I will recommend that if you are lost on the series, go to Hopeless’s sensei’s blog on episode 14-19. He has done a great job of doing a bit of a summary. For now though, I will present a bite size summary of each episode.

Here is Impzie trying to decipher a whole plot of ideas to make it easy. Man, it’s actually rather stressful to blog about such a complex anime but Ganbatte time!

Note: Awful translation of titles coming your way. I just realize how bad I am at translating idioms and the likes T_T. It’s been so long since I wrote any chinese, tee hee. Typing chinese is difficult too, desu~ If i did not get the actual meaning in the title, sorry in advance…

Episode 20: Even the wilted wood has its time to bloom in spring. (枯木逢春)

Episode 20 deals with the history that happened 10 years ago when the revolt started. The princes of the kingdom were fighting each other as the king was starting to be in decline. It also noted that both Seiran and Ryuuki both had mothers that did not like them at all and wished for them never to be born. Seiran was both good in the fine literature as well as in martial arts, causing him to be more prominent.

As his uncle and mother tried to gain power by putting Seiran into the next throne by killing off his brothers, they were instead seen as the group that were trying to usurp the throne. With that, the family was forced to leave the palace due to treason and never to come back. With the in-fighting, the people suffered and we all know how lawlessness appeared and everything became confused and tyrannical.

Seiran was finally out, without any regret. Even so, many attempts to assassinate came about, even though it was rumored that the king sent the “Black Wolf” to protect the prince. Seiran fought his way against the assassins but her mother died in the process, still saying the same words that she wished that she never gave birth to Seiran. Sai-taichou also did nothing, much to Shouko’s dismay, saying that he was waiting for a proper ruler to show up.

Eventually, he saw the potential in Ryuuki and did all the reforms and got rid of all the brothers that were fighting against each other. Back to reality, Shuurei thanked Shouko for all he had done and allowing her to leave as the day to go to the Sai town approaches.

>>> Kourin also impressed with her intelligence.

The entrance exam to become Royal maid was said to be very tough. This is to ensure that they can entertain guests with their intelligence when needed. Kourin received further training from the best teachers available, for she wanted to impress her step father, Sa Taiho, who, in return, helped her access many books and instructors.

arrr, i should have thought of that, but the fact that everyone is so surprised by it did not let me think of that possibility. I mean, everyone was like woah when it happened.

I was assuming it was due to her constant interactions with nobles that had allowed her to have that quick wit of humor rather than anything else.

Nice information, thanks wontaek ^+^

I actually wonder about who the deities are. I just got a feeling that there are a few deities even within the living, like Kou Kijin….and the likes.

That is pure speculation though @_@
