Ok, so two or three episodes are shown for most of the series. For some, I have only watched all three episodes of it, some only two and some of these series only 1 because I gave up watching on it. In Impzie’s hall of fame, which anime have made him jump in joy watching it and what are the shows that have disappointed him quite a bit.
From the episode summaries if you follow it, it will be clear which are the shows that make me excited, the shows that made me cry in horror or the shows that made me horrified with their brand of badness. I will also have a up-down system where the anime falls or rises to each category…We see.
I will use this format to start off with five distinct groups, from best to worst ^+^
1. This is heaven, baby!
2. Now this is what you call anime
3. Close, but no cigar
4. You are wavering borderline
5. Sucks to be you.
Let me go with the first group!

This is heaven, baby!
Aria the Natural – What else can i say about this fabulous slice-of-life series that have changed my view on anime? Beautiful scenery with one of the greatest ever soundtracks. Idyllic, relaxing, beautiful and entriging. My pick for best anime in 2006, and that’s saying a lot considering I am choosing it over super contenders like H&C, Haruhi, Ouran and the likes. I am sad that it has to end. Alice T_T
Red Garden – This show never fails to surprise me with its brand of horror, mystery and despair. Episode 2’s song at the end of the show was fabulous, as waiting for time to pass become such a painful thing to do. Episode 3 brought this painful realism where there is no escape from the situation they are in. It’s painful, depressing and horrifying. Fabulous story going on, with more answers waiting.

Now this is what you call anime
Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto – Wow, even though I am not blogging this, this is something that should be the crux when I look back in Fall 2006. Fabulous graphics, nice design, powerful story, good chereography. This looks like a clear winner already.
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge – One of the best comedies that I have shown for this Fall season. It continues to impress a lot with Sunako being one of the strongest female leads to grace the scene with her goth and ghostly image. Wonderful stuff, even though the bishies are left to be desired but the chemistry of Kyouhei with Sunako makes this show a romp.
Asatte no Houkou – Asatte makes the cut simply for the slow and engaging drama that lies with this show. I have often said that there is always a spiritual precedessor when it comes to shows, and H&C comes to mind as a comparison and living up to it. That is speaking quite a bit considering the greatness of H&C.

Close, but no cigar
Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo! – I am starting to adore this show but I did not put this up at 2nd place because it still does not have that oomph. It is a pleasant series to watch, with a good amount of laughs going on, but Episode 3 was just pretty decent. It is not great but it still works somehow. Next week is encouraging though.
Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~ – Not blogging this but it is ROFL humor completely, with the totally insane humor. The hot gals added to the mix, making this a cute and interesting school harem show. I definitely do not mind watching this just for the insaneness, and episode 1 really got me right there. Mina, Sayuri and the other red girl all looked fabulous.
Bokura ga Ita – Very strong contender to the romance series of 2006. It is not the most perfect show and episode 15 & 16 did not really light it all up. However, with a dash of humor, strong drama and potent romance of a realistic portrayal of teenagers of that age, it is gearing up with a nice pace. Good music always help too, with the mood by Mi really great.
Kanon – There is nothing much really going on with this show, considering that it is still at the introduction stage of the show. However, with the fabulous OP, eye-catching and simply likeable characters, this is worth holding on. I can feel the AIR vibes from this, yet it feels a little bittersweet, because I know there will be emotions at the point go in the mid section of this show. For now, it stays here.
Bartender – I have to see this more in order to make a proper verdict on this show. Honestly, I really don’t know how this show will turn out but if the 2nd episode is like the 1st one, this will be one of the anime that is asking to be promoted. I always like slice-of-life series and this is a keepers for sure.

You are wavering borderline
Ghost Hunt – Ghost hunt is the show that makes me whether to put it under “close, but no cigar” or here. For now, it stands here since I like the mysterious part and the scientific part. I think the Mai blushing is the one that kinda recoiled me because it is so out of sync. It is almost like “hey we need some romance” and this comes in. I don’t know, i prefer no romantic elements in this show. It is less of a distraction from the real deal in my opinion. This anime will be under close scrutiny.
Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru – The 2nd episode was greatness throughout just for the chibi characters and the likes. However, with the rather solemn episode 3, it lingers around the borderline. It is still good, of course, and the story isn’t too shabby for a school “yuri” series, so sticking it to it works for me.
Happiness! – Happiness! flatters to deceive. Even though it picks up in the third episode with more funny humor, I do not really find myself going HELL YEA compared to the other shows that I have watched. It is definitely borderline case but the Jun + Otoha can probably save this show. Haruhi is the one that is dragging this show down as she is a really bad female lead. Really bad, I have seen much better ones.
Hataraki Man – I think i am being particularly unfair to this show but I do not like the vibes. Perhaps, it is the fact that I do not like the glamour presented in the “truth” of journalism when I know that it does not fricking exist in real life. I do not know, the show’s fine but I am biased on this case, I admit.

Sucks to be you
Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na Crescent Love – Where did the graphics go? Even Feena looks awful now. The story is bland and with a supposedly exciting episode 3, it just churns out the same old stuff. I am getting a little bored here with this show but it is still decent stuff, I guess.

I couldn’t get past the ugliness of Shichi Henge. I probably would have liked it more if it was prettier. I agree with you on Hataraki Man… I was hoping for more of an edge, I guess. If it was trying for realism it failed.
I thought this is a list of shows starting in Fall, but you have Aria the Natural and Bokura ga Ita in there. Hmm…kinda confusing. Anyway, I agree with most of them, except I would rank Hataraki Man higher, and Yamato and Bartender lower. Have you watched Code Geass? You may want to check it out. It’s pretty good. It’s my third favourite in this season, just behind Red Garden and Asatte Houkou.
T_T wahahah… I don’t usually watch action/mecha shows. ;o; You can say I am awfully biased. I guess it is due to the fact that yamato is always making me laugh so badly that I like it a lot.
For me, I do not have any liking for mecha because even though all the robots and actions are nice and all, I do not really like too much violence, especially if it’s realistic. Even Red garden is painful enough but the plot is so strong that it works. Mecha is another cup of tea though. I guess most of us have our preferences.
Bartender seems to be a very slice-of-life series and due to me being a sucker for it, i guess it works pretty well desu~
and the other red girl> omg a Power Ranger lol
so Red Garden and Aria, huh? wow that sure a mix. I haven’t check out Red Garden, though the animation looks extremely good, I’m just skeptical (don’t wann watch alone in the dark hiki style). ARIA, whooo, I was lucky enough my local library had 4 volumes of this work of art. Stunning beauty in a world that seems perfect, who cannot love this? Probably type-a’s
anyway nice rundown, and yea Crested Love, meh I dont think I’ll get past ep2, not after seeing those shots darkmirage posted from a game (game art much > animation).
