White Knight Story

White knight Story is awesome. I never knew watching a game trailer can be that great until now.

Wow, I am bought.

Note: Tons of screenshots below

If there is another reason why I need to buy a ps3, this game will be it. The graphics are superb and from we see from the 5 minute clip about the game, it seems to be a psuedo real time, turn based game. The surroundings and the atmosphere look top notch and the story seems to be rather interesting.

The combat system is really interesting. I cannot really tell how it is going to be fighting but if they tell me that this is a work in progress, I cannot imagine what it will be when I see the real stuff. I know I have seen little story but the graphics and the VA won me over almost immediately. Please give me it right now.

Man, this is exciting times. White Knight story.

The graphics are simply stunning! White Knight Story is like a cross between Final Fantasy XII and Xenogears lol

I thought the trailer looked awesome as well. It makes me want a PS3. I’ll probably be picking the PS3 up around the same time this game comes out.

FF13 and White Knight Story are kinda like opposites: FF13 has a decent premise but no proper gameplay vid to entice while we have no idea of White Knight Story’s premise but the gameplay vid is amazing.

This is, simply, the evolved RPG. It takes the usual (combat) routine and just expands it in the way we’ve always wanted to see it happen (as opposed to the static side vs. side battles in previous Final Fantasies). And that’s just beautiful.

I found a summary of what the menu operations are about:

Basically, before the battle starts, the player equips actions into the seven slots at the bottom of the screen. Each action provokes a response and has a counter, as explained in the info screen when they are selecting each action. The ones chosen for the White Knight character were slash, shield attack and grab.

Meanwhile, the mustachoied older man chose a series of attacks that when put in that order created a combo you can activate, because of the type of attack. You can see little icons at the side of the name which tells which is which.

So then in actual battle, the player positions the character and makes the targeting reticle. Inside the reticle is the action you’ve chosen and you can switch to any of the other actions along the bottom at any time, when you push the button, it activates and paper/rock/scissors thing goes into effect. So the shield bash should knock down an enemy as it did, but not if its met with a well-timed thrust attack and so on. This is demonstrated when the White Knight character gets his arm hurt from inputting slash attacks at the wrong time (and perhaps having little strength as well).

Just like Rogue Galaxy, you can switch the active character at any time, and they all speak about battle conditions so you can hear what’s going on without seeing it. So later on, when the female character talks, she’s asking for help and he switches to the White Knight goes behind the guy and activates “grab” to hold him by the arms so she can beat him up.
