I would say that both Narcissu and Planetarian was one of the most touching visual novels that I have played. You can't compare them side-by-side; they're so similar yet have such different meanings that they withhold. I cried when I first played Kanon, and I was crying in both Narcissu and Planetarian afterwards. In all - great visual novels.

Well, I think that Planetarian is wonderful. I won't compare it to any other visual novels I'd read, because every one of them is different, incomparable with any other thing.
I'd began with a downloaded version with an english patch, then the same version without a patch and with a few dictionaries, constantly used, but now I think about buying it for the second time, this time a CD version, so I'll be able not only to read, but also to hear the emotions and dreams of Hoshino Yumemi (Reverie Planetarian) and 'nameless junker'.
I find it great that I can learn japanese by reading - no, by experiencing, such wonderful and heartwarming, yet sad and tearful, stories. I'd savored every tear of mine while I read it, and even through I'd cried a lot, I won't hesitate to read next visual novel, because this kind of tears is the fuel to our hearts and minds.

Such a beautiful story...

And if the end didn't make you cry, YOU ARE NOT HUMAN.

That is all.

I'm just a newbie to Visual Novels, but i got completely catched in by planetarian. I also am one of the people that think that even robots can give us emotions, even if they're just mechanized things, they can still make a human feel happy or smile at them.
The dreams that humankind, and Revvie had once are described magistrally, and i smiled many times when Revvie cocked her head for not understanding the junker.
the end made me almost cry, i'm so sorry for that epilogue, but as revvie say, i will keep this as a memory in my heart, that will bring smiles and make me happy for experienced it

good question. Personally, I like the theme of planetarian more due to the following reasons.

1. More uplifting of emotions in Planetarian.

2. The discovery of emotions.

3. The more solemn messages.

4. Themes with dreams are <3.

But both are masterpieces in their own right.
