(Spoiler!!) Basicly, Rika and Yuuichi both leave the hospital (Although she still need to be back there for check ups) She enters Yuuichi's school and live a normal happy life. In the end, (If I read it correctly) she DID marry with Yuuichi in the end of chapter 1 in Vol.8~ Tee hee~ Oh and one more thing... nobody dies until the end of the novel. The fact is that written novel form is often very rich in nature, especially on the content, as it does not have visual support for it. That is also why it will be hard for the anime to present everything inside that is meaningful, as anime is usually seen to be concise in its presentation. I must admit for the various series that i have read the novels/manga before watching the anime, my expectations generally tend to be higher. The fact is that the higher i expect it due to the richness and presentation in the novel, it fails me when I felt that a certain scene comes in. Still, hanbun is a very good piece of art. It will never be anyone's top 10 anime, but it is memorable enough to be remembered as an anime that is watched. I guess i had the benefit of the doubt without reading the novel.
