Deep in love, yet there are so many secrets in which the girl never knows. The girl keeps falling in love and falling deeper in love with the guy. However, is the guy really loving her or simply using her as a replacement to the girl that he used to have? Is the kiss just trying to assure himself of his presence? Is the girl’s love simply in vain? Is she just used to recover from the past?

These are the questions running through my mind as I watched this episode. The light-hearted episode 5 transisted into a rather mind-bobbling episode 6, giving us some answers but returned us with a few more questions instead. This is a good episode, as the couple’s relationship developed, with Nana falling deeper in love with Yano. Their relationship is definitely advancing but we also realise some truths about the past of Yamamoto and Yano.

Episode summary + thoughts as usual on the bottom of the review. Go press more!

We continued on with the previous episode as usual, with the flashback of the emotional promise in the park, with the snow fields as a background. We then see semi-real images as Nana was touched by Yano on the hair, and she felt that she was leaving herself so open to him. They started to kiss and it gave her that feeling of helpfulness until he tried to touch her chest. That woke her up from the semi-conscious state as we were brought back to reality.

“WAIT!” Nana shouted.

We see Nana stopping Yano as they went on a rather embarrassed silence. Yano then said he would only touch it once but Nana said that he would definitely not stop with just a touch, as both of them sighed and smiled back at each other. The awkwardness of the whole thing was definitely apparent. As she boarded the bus, she started to think whether she was wrong in stopping Yano from doing that. She knew that at a moment, she felt that it was all right and she was disturbed why she was so reluctant with it. Nana was in fact boarding the bus to meet up with Yano for another date. However, she realised that she was way too early for the meeting and entered the building.

She then went into a jewellery store to pass some time and she was looking around. There, she was greeted by a very beautiful assistant and Nana was shocked at her beauty as she blushed slightly. The assistant asked whether she would help but Nana said that she was only browsing. The assistant simply smiled as she said it’s all right for Nana to test rings around. It was then that Yano came over to see Nana, calling her half way before turning pale.

Yano definitely recognised the person and it seemed that the beautiful girl was in fact Takeushi’s older sister, Ayaka as Nana went around to look at the other rings. Ayaka then offered to give Nana a discount since she was Takeushi’s friend. As Nana went further away, the tone of Ayaka changed and she said that Nana was cute, even though her appearance and character felt like a baby. That made Yano slipped his tongue by saying “child..” to Nana when she wanted advice on whether a certain ring fitted her before changing the word to “cute”.

Nana then picked out one of the rings and was about to buy before Ayaka showed her yet another ring that was much cuter, with beautiful gems making the ring look extremely fitted for Nana. Nana wanted to buy it but turned white at the price tag. It was way too expensive! She then left, with Ayaka saying that Yano was definitely buying it. Yano acknowledged and said to Ayaka that he would pay in installments. Ayaka said that she was going to go against the rules and give him a E.D (Employee discount) so that it would be 40% off. Yano wanted to give the thing before Christmas.

As they walked for their date, Nana started to wonder why Takeushi was unable to get a girlfriend. She then derived that it was because Ayaka was so beautiful and that Takeushi hence had much higher expectations of girls. It seemed that Yano knew why Takeushi did not want to get a girlfriend when he said “It is definitely not the reason”. With that, Yano suddenly remarked that he wondered why Nana said that Takeushi had taken great care of her when he did not do anything.

The fact was that Yano was jealous and Nana was pleasantly surprised because she did not expect this at all. She continued to smile as she just found him to be so cute. Back at school, Nana said that she had met with his beautiful sister but Takeushi revealed something amazing. Ayaka was in fact a drag male, or a male that dresses in female clothes. Nana then was shocked, saying that she thought he had a sis-con. His friend then joked that Takeushi was gay. However, when Takeushi was asked by Nana whether he had someone she liked, he paused for a moment before saying no. That usually means yes.

Switching scenes, we see Yamamoto entering the classroom, with Yano sitting there, possibly waiting for Nana as Nana was held up in a council meeting and told Yano to leave first. We then had a flashback of Yano and Yamamoto where the time frame was 6 months after Yano’s ex-gf died. Yamamoto said that he was so heartless in which he never once paid his respects to her dead sister.

Flashback continued. Yano then remarked that the scarf on Yamamoto was her sister but she said it was originally hers. Yamamoto’s sister had often borrowed things without asking and had stained all the things that were borrowed, including a huge tomato stain on her clothes. She then remarked that Yano did not need to act so cool and all since the sister was the one that threw him out, eliciting a violent response from Yano. Yano grabbed the scarf of Yamamoto and said that both the sisters were horrible creatures and she was not much better than him. Yamamoto simply replied.

“Dont group me with her.”

The flashback continued with the scarf being burned in a stove in the school, as we went back to reality, where Yamamoto turned around to see Yano disappear already. In the next scene, we see Nana in class, gazing at Yano and thinking about Yano during the whole class. The scene changed once again as Nana was waiting at the bus stop with Yano, about to get home. She asked whether she should stay and wait for the next bus but Yano said that she already did that the last hour.

She then decided that it was late and she should go. Yano asked her whether she wanted to kiss before she left but she said that there were passerbys walking around. Yano said that the passerbys were not looking as they kissed. Nana boarded the bus and Yano at the last minute rushed in and said that he would send her home. They both felt that it was getting harder and harder to seperate from each other, or at least that was what Nana felt.

Scene changed again. Nana was now at the sewing class and she asked Yamamoto for help. Yamamoto did not seem to hate her, even though Yano and her were together. However, she was shocked at the amount of things that Yamamoto hated. The class ended as Yano was in his gym uniform. They talked a little as Yamamoto walked up the stairs but suddenly lost her footing. We then saw the flashback as Yano caught her. Yano definitely had a relationship last time with Yamamoto as the flashback showed them kissing. As the flashback was interrupted by Nana’s voice, asking whether Yano was all right, Yamamoto stood up and left without saying thanks.

Yano was now at the medical center, with a bandage over the wound. Yano asked Nana for a long kiss, after he had a flashback of his hand on the back of Yamamoto. They continued to kiss, as Nana thought what would happen if Yano was to disappear from her life. She could not imagine.

As the image of Yamamoto stood still in the episode, we hear Nana’s voice saying “What if the person I loved stopped looking at me.” A very ironic statement as the episode ended with tons of questions.

Episode thoughts

Who did Takeushi exactly like? I am a terrible guesser and I do not have a clue who he would like, since he does appear very infrequently in the series. If it was Nana, i will be shocked to my bones. However, it will not be as surprising than that of Ayaka, who was a freaking male. I was shocked that a bishonen was even existing in Bokura as well. I thought it would only be anime such as Saiunkoku Monogatari.

I was right! I guessed that Yamamoto and Yano had a relationship previously and it was true, since they even held hands and kissed in the various flashbacks. In fact, with the fade-to-reality shot when Yano’s hand was on the back of Yamamoto, it was in fact naked for a moment. I might be reading way too much here but it might be possible that Yamamoto and Yano had sex together even. That would really explain why Yamamoto hated Yano so much. I am almost 100% sure that Yano used Yamamoto as a form of revenge, which was what was said in the preview.

Is Yano going to be a cheat? I do not know. He is definitely very serious when it comes to relationships but somehow, i have the feeling that Yano is merely making use of Nana to recover from his previous failed relationship. There is definitely love between the two of them but there is this understated way in which Yano is trying to assure himself through the kisses. Nana, with her innocent self, never suspected it at all but I am very skeptical over Yano. He is definitely a very deep character that has many scars and a very disturbing past. I got a feeling he will break Nana’s heart time and time again in the future episodes.

In fact, I think Yano is hoping that Nana would be able to remove the various emotional scars in his heart right now, banking on Nana to do it. I believe that Nana would be able to do it, simply because she had a pure heart that loved Yano dearly. Nana is definitely a very likeable character, with her constant clueless behavior and her great devotion to the person she loved.

In the preview, we hear Yamamoto saying that she was used as a form of revenge and we see Yano and Nana on the same bed lying together. Yamamoto had spoke very little for most of the episodes that had been shown and I must say that she is not very likeable. However, I really want to know what the actual relationship was and how the two had broken up. It was definitely painful as Yamamoto clearly still had some feelings of love toward Yano. However, it has all been chanelled into hate. Hate, in a way, is love. Simply a love that is so intense that when it failed, it turns to the other extreme, hate.

Oh, the excitement of the next episode! I can’t wait for more! I hope you do and like the little review of Bokura. EVery single Shoujo fan should catch this excellent series!

I have to admit Yano’s sister being a guy was surprise as well, perfect trap-chan. Good episode. I wonder how much they show angst later in the series, emotions seems to be pretty subtle here.
