I could not even last the whole 23 minutes of this anime. This is a series that was made by the same people who brought you mind games, i was told by Cherryon in IRC. The story is about two groups of people, one that was demons and the other group that were demon hunters that wore strange masks.
I dont know about this anime. Some might call it experimental and going back to basics. However, Jokerai gave me the best ever review to explain this anime for me. He really helped me solve this first impression post.

If intolerance is your game, then I suppose that Joker’s absolutely demented anger is well-founded. I kind of like it- it’s a nice shift from eyes that are 3/4 the size of the face and pink hair that looks more like a plastic octopus than hair.

But yea, i get really disturbed, especially the first scene of the non-good looking guy? His face looked awfully out of proportion and I was very not used to the artwork. so yea.
However, i do agree that the story premise might be promising but I cannot get rid of my own prejudice when it comes to such artwork. I hope others can pick it up and prove me wrong.

there sure are people who don’t like stuff YOU watch, I mean those sissy-Shojo-Anime-Stuff, but they don’t inveigh against it. You know, for people who are as intolerant as you (and shallow as well) there are Anime like Shakugan no shana, Utawarerumono or the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Watch them, have fun and go to sleep. So if you know you cannot handle adult-anime with extraordinary anime-style then don’t even bother to complain about it.

In the end, it’s all up to opinion.
I don’t think that using the “you go do a better job” argument ever really means anything, since the point is rather moot.
Rather, I guess when joker was saying it was crap, obviously it’s opinion-related… and arguing about opinions is never ending, lol.
He has every right to complain, just like how you have every right to complain about what he watches. In the end, neither person’s opinions are going to change, lol. ::shrugs::

kukuku but as you can tell from the anime that i am watching, I am a very picky watcher. I need BOTH good graphics and a decent story line ^+^
i would easily place this among my top ten anime shows ever (i’m not being facetious here), and i’ve only seen the first few episodes. i don’t understand why people are thrown off by the fact that the people look ’strange’ or ‘out of proportion’. the character design might not be typical of familiar anime series like full metal alchemist or gits, e.g. but, it seems to me that anime is such an attractive medium by virtue of the fact that it can truck in realms that are quite distant from reality. this can be liberating for the artists who create these shows, and it can be quite rewarding for the audience. i know that art of any sort is dependent upon the eye of the beholder, and i respect those whose opinions differ from mine. but i would urge you to take another look at this show.
i think that a close-minded perspective is an unfortunate one to take for those of us in the West who, by embracing anime, have already demonstrated a willingness to explore new artistic venues. if one should enjoy a show but for the fact that the visuals do not conform to standard notions of how anime should look, then perhaps that show is worth a re-evaluation. it is easy to overlook the fact that for most of the population, the visuals of full metal alchemist or any other popular anime show do not conform to standard formulas for western animation.
anyway, all i’m saying is give it a second chance.

I do understand your point when you say that different styles of anime require different forms of animation. However, for kemonzune, i can see it stylize in a different way, yet still work wonders. There are some shows which are trying to make a difference, like this, but to me it is a failed attempt.
I will not say that it’s bad, because there are few kinds of art that is truly bad. However, i really cannot accept the style of artwork because it does look totally off from usual standards. I mean, look at Red Garden. it definitely does not have the greatest graphics around, but i am still in love with it. the reason is because the graphics are at least decent enough.
Kemonzune’s graphics disturb me because it really feels like child’s play. I do agree that people should try it out but this, nah, no thanks.
